Credit Note


Credit notes are legal documents, just like invoices, that give you the important ability to cancel out an already issued invoice, either in full or in part. Issuing a credit note essentially allows you to delete the amount of the invoice from your financial records, without actually deleting the invoice itself.


  • Draft: is used when a user is encoding a new and unconfirmed note
  • Open: is used when a credit note is validate. It stays in the open status till the user pays the invoice
  • Paid: is set automatically when the credit note is paid. Its related journal entries may or ay not be reonciled
  • Cancelled: is used when user cancel the credit note


Create a credit note

Create a credit note with invoice

  • Step 1: Find to the Invoice
  • Step 2: click Add Credit Note, choose Create a draft credit note and input the Reason Refund

Create a credit note without invoice

  • Step 1: Go to Accounting > Customer > Credit Notes then click Create

  • Step 2: Fill customer information and product/service in each line with refund value.

  • Step 3: Fill reference to the old invoice in Other Info > Reference Description

Request to Approve Refund

  • Step 1: Go to Accounting > Customer > Credit Notes, find and open the Credit Note

  • Step 2: Click Request Refund button. Choose Approver is Steve, CC to Mike and any related members

  • Step 3: Fill the reason and your lesson learn. Then click Request

  • Step 4: You will have a disscuss on Slack with Steve and other members
